Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth”
A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7)
When do you keep silent?
1. When God is speaking to you:
Deuteronomy 27:9
Be silent, O Israel and listen! You have now become the people of the LORD your God.
Job 33:31
Pay attention, Job, and listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.
Job 33:33
But if not, then listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.
Habakkuk 2:20
But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.
2. Keep silent from sinning?
Isaiah 8:20
If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light
Psalm 4:4
In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Psalm 12:2
Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception.
Psalm 31:18
Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.
Psalm 34:13
keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.
Psalm 50:20
You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son.
Psalm 52:3
You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
Proverbs 17:28
Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent
Proverbs 23:9
Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.
Ezekiel 3:26
Be silent and unable to rebuke them, though they are a rebellious house.

When do you speak?
Esther 4:14
For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?
Numbers 11:17
God will come down and speak with you there, and God will take of the Spirit that is on you and put the Spirit on them.
Psalm 15:2
He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart.
