Time to speak/be silent

I‘ve come to realized that I don’t really know when to keep silent.
A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7)

When do I keep silent?

When I sound ignorant:
  • If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light (Isaiah 8:20)
  • Their flattering lips speak with deception. (Psalm 12:2)
  • For with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous. (Psalm 31:18)
  • Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent. (Proverbs 17:28)
  • Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance. (1 Samuel 2:3)

When I am deeply hurt and have hardness in my heart:
  • In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. (Psalm 4:4)
  • You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. (Psalm 50:20)
  • Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words. (Proverbs 23:9)
  • They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. (Luke 20:26)
  • Be silent and unable to rebuke them, though they are a rebellious house. (Ezekiel 3:26)
  • Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. (Psalm 34:13)
  • You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. (Psalm 52:3)

When should I speak?
When my conscience sense what is right and wrong:
  • He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes. (Isaiah 33:15)
  • God will come down and speak with you there, and God will take of the Spirit that is on you and put the Spirit on them. (Numbers 11:17)
  • Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. (Proverbs 31:9)

Sharing God’s love:
  • And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues. (Mark 16:17)
  • My mouth will speak words of wisdom. (Psalm 49:3)
  • That my heart may sing to you and not be silent, O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever. (Psalm 30:12)
  • I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. (Psalm 40:10)
  • They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might. (Psalm 145:11 )

To help the helpless:
  • "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. (Proverbs 31:8)
  • He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart. (Psalm 15:2)
  • Who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14)

Father, thank you that you have found me and spirit you have given me.
I pray that you would strengthen me to resist any temptation that comes in my way.
Feed me and shape me to be more like Jesus.
Help me to obey you, be more patience with others and not be a stumbling block.
When I am going through the darkness place, help me hold your hands and focus my eyes only on Jesus.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Please spend time reading your Bible with your child.
Blessed is the one who reads the words, hear the words and keep the words. (Revelation 1:3)
